Issue 5: Editors’ Note

Dear Readers —

So many of us sink into the void of the internet, endlessly consuming and immersing ourselves in fragments of other people’s lives. We see what they have chosen to share with us, sometimes as strangers, sometimes as friends. It can be isolating and discouraging to compare the mundane of daily life to the endless vertical of highlight reels. 

In this issue, we wanted to offer a peek behind the curtain. The poets showcased in our fifth issue have also chosen to share snippets of their lives, but with a rare candor and authenticity. It is a testament to these incredible writers that their poetry can transport us to their lived experiences. At times, it may not be easy to witness. 

Sometimes, art is the most honest form of communication. We thank our poets for lending us their words and their voices for a poem or two. We hope you enjoy them.
