Issue 2: Editors’ Note
Welcome to the second issue of The Post Grad Journal! After four months and an overwhelming amount of submissions that once again managed to surpass our expectations, we are so proud to share the work of these amazing writers with you.
From when our last issue came out to now, summer arrived and with it came the warning signs of climate change. Temperate Seattle hit an unparalleled 108 degrees while New York City got battered by the wettest July on record. For some the pandemic seemed to be approaching an end, only for restrictions to be reinstated. For others around the world, the vaccine is still not within reach. We cannot predict what our future will look like, and yet we are surrounded by the same familiar passage of time. The summer solstice came and went, gifting us with an evening drenched in sunlight. We fell asleep to the sound of fireworks on the fourth of July. Spring has turned to summer. Summer will turn to fall.
The themes in this issue touch on what many of us have felt this last year and a half: loneliness, nostalgia, constant change. We offer you this opportunity to confront these feelings with us. Revel in them. Recognize the beauty of not experiencing them alone, albeit virtually.
We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we have enjoyed constructing it for you. We hope you come, read, and go in good health.
