the hot dogs

are cold -- someone

left the heater off

Again -- it’s my fault

for not noticing

for letting my mind

wander to dreams

of sharing my art

with others, dreams

that don’t belong

amongst aisles of

glossy magazines

promising to make you

beautiful, successful,

someone who doesn’t

subside on minimum wage

hoping for more
