Premonition.

I arrive at the house

with some beers

in a backpack. pull in on the bicycle;

meet jack and jack’s dad.

they are both wearing plastic

protective equipment – been trimming back

the garden. later, jack shows me

the view they’ve uncovered,

and the garage and the new

store for lumber. a pile

already leans there, and more

will be added

to lean. and his sister

is recently pregnant. and she lives

with her husband

next door.
